What to know: One second-place team down and another one to go for King to maintain sole possession of first place in the Conference Carolinas. King less than 24 hours after rallying from a one-game road deficit to beat Mount Olive will now continue its North Carolina road trip as it plays Barton. The Tornado entered the weekend with a half-match lead against both the second-place Trojans and Bulldogs. In addition, if King defeats Barton it will be on the verge of clinching the program’s first Conference Carolinas regular season championship. Barton also has a chance to win its first conference regular season title in program history with a win against King. This match will feature the top two offenses in the Conference Carolinas. Barton leads the conference and is fifth in the nation with a .328 attack percentage. In addition, the Bulldogs have hit above their season average in their last five conference home matches. Outside attacker Vasilis Mandilaris and opposite Angelos Mandilaris both began the weekend in the nation’s top 25 averaging more than 3.40 kills per game. Despite its recent offensive performances, Barton was held to a .218 attack percentage in a five-game overtime loss to King in February. King is on a nation-best 15 match winning streak and is second in the conference hitting .273. Outside attacker Jeff Sprayberry also is fourth in the Conference Carolinas with a 3.44 kills per game average, including a season-high 27 kills on a .438 attack percentage in the victory versus Mount Olive on Friday.
