Video: Stanford rallies from historic OT loss to knock off UCSB

No. 8/9 Stanford overcame losing its program’s longest game in more than decade to earn a comeback conference victory.

Stanford rallied from a two-game deficit and a 36-point overtime loss in the second game to defeat No. 12 UC Santa Barbara 23-25, 41-43, 26-24, 25-15, 15-10 on Saturday in Stanford, California.

Both outside attacker Jordan Ewert and middle attacker Kevin Rakestraw set career highs in the conference victory.

Ewert finished with a match-high 26 kills, while adding nine digs and three blocks. Rakestraw also had 19 kills on a .586 attack percentage and five blocks.

The second-game overtime was Stanford’s longest game since March 2003. In addition, it’s the second time in the last two weeks a MPSF match featured two teams playing a game that had more than 40 points.
