The bench filled in more than adequately with two typical starters out of the lineup for No. 2/2 UCLA.
Outside attacker Michael Fisher and middle attacker Oliver Martin each had more than five blocks as UCLA swept Princeton 25-15, 25-23, 27-25 on Sunday in Los Angeles.
Fisher in his second start of the year finished with a match-high eight blocks and added six digs to help keep Princeton to a .156 attack percentage. In addition, Martin making his third start of the year added seven blocks along with four kills and zero attack errors in the non-conference match.
Fisher and Martin started in place of All-American outside attacker Jake Arnitz and middle attacker Daenan Gyimah. Coach John Speraw said in his posmatch interview with the UCLA radio broadcast that both players will be available for the team’s upcoming two-match series against No. 3/3 BYU.
Outside attacker JT Hatch had a team-high 14 kills against Princeton to help UCLA extend its winning streak to seven matches.
Princeton outside attacker Kendall Ratter in the loss also had 14 kills on a .360 attack percentage.
