All-American outside attacker Jake Arnitz delivered in No. 2/2 UCLA’s biggest rivalry match of the season.
Arnitz had a match-high 20 kills on a .450 attack percentage as UCLA defeated its cross-town rival USC in four games on Friday at Pauley Pavilion.
The junior also added four blocks to help the Bruins out-block the Trojans 13 to 7. All-American middle attacker Mitch Stahl led all players with eight blocks, while setter Micah Ma’a contributed five blocks.
UCLA opened the conference victory with a match-best .524 attack percentage in the first game and went on to out-hit USC .309 to .208. Arnitz one of two Bruins with double-digit kills as midld attacker Deaenan Gyimah added 10 kills on a .444 attack percentage.
USC outside attacker Lucas Yoder finished with a team-high 15 kills against UCLA.
With this victory, UCLA remains in sole possession of first place in the MPSF and one of three MPSF teams undefeated in conference play.
