AVCA to hold new national showcase event for uncommitted recruits

Uncommitted high school players and junior college players will have an opportunity to showcase their volleyball skills at new national event with college coaches in attendance.

The AVCA announced it will organize the inaugural AVCA Boy’s Talent Showcase that will take place during the association’s annual conference on Saturday, Dec. 17 in Columbus, Ohio.

Unsigned high school and junior college players from across the nation are eligible to register at the AVCA website for the event. About 30 to 60 players are expected to compete in the showcase, according to the AVCA.

Along with competing in the showcase, the boys’ volleyball players will participate in a series of individual drills as part of the AVCA Volleyball Performance Index. The results from these metric testing drills will be included this national index, which can be accessed by college men’s volleyball coaches who are an AVCA member.

The AVCA Convention is an annual event coinciding with the women’s volleyball Division I NCAA Championships. The showcase will begin at 2 p.m. in Hall C of the Greater Columbus Convention Center — just hours before the start of the national championship match.

The cost to participate in this inaugural recruiting event is $99, which includes a ticket to the women’s volleyball NCAA Tournament semifinals and finals. For more information about AVCA Boy’s Talent Showcase, click here.
