One of the top ranked high school recruits and multiple high school all-conference players will join Lewis for the upcoming season.
The Flyers announced recently that high school seniors Zack Meyere, TJ Meurray, Joe Crosby and Ryan Van Loo have committed to play for Lewis.
“All four guys are tremendous additions,” coach Dan Friend said in statement. “We look for each of the guys to make their impact on the Lewis community and the program.”
Meyer, a 6-foot-4 outside attacker from Wheaton, Illinois, made the Volleyball Magazine top 25 underclassmen in the nation list last year. He also was a four-year starter for his high school team and a three-time all-conference selection.
Murray, a 6-foot-9 middle attacker from Hoffman Estates, Illinois, had a .750 attack percentage and earned all-area honors last season as his high school team won the sectional championship. In addition, Murray helped his club team earn a berth to the upcoming USA Volleyball nationals.
Crosby, a 6-foot-10 middle attacker from Walworth, New York, made the state championship All-Tournament Team as a senior. The middle attacker also helped lead his high school team to a 22-1 record for the last two years.
Van Loo, a 6-foot-3 setter from Burbank, California, set his high school’s single-season assist record last year. In addition, Van Loo earned all-state honors as a junior and led his team to the state semifinals.
Lewis will have a majority of its starters returning after reaching the MIVA Tournament finals last season and finishing in the top 10 of the national rankings.
