What to know: No. 11 UC Irvine may be in 10th place in the MPSF but it has a knack this season of beating the top ranked team in the nation. UC Irvine will travel to No. 1/1 Long Beach State attempting to pull off a road upset against the No. 1 ranked team for the second consecutive week. The Anteaters have lost seven of their last conference matches but one of those victories came on the road as the team defeated then-No. 2/1 UCLA in five games last week. Long Beach State is on a conference-best six-match winning streak, including having a season-high 12 aces and hitting .466 in a sweep against UC San Diego on Wednesday. Freshman outside attacker TJ DeFalco also leads the MPSF and is among the national leaders with a 4.48 kills per game average. In addition, freshman setter Josh Tuaniga has a MPSF-best 11.12 assists per game average and has guided the 49ers’ offense to the third-best attack percentage in the conference at .322. UC Irvine has suffered multiple injuries to its starting lineup in recent weeks. The Anteaters have been without All-American outside attacker Tamir Hershko for the last five matches. In addition, setter Michael Saeta missed multiple matches before returning to the court in UC Irvine’s four-game loss to No. 13 CSUN on Wednesday.

I’ll be watching AA Seif/Shaw match up tonight.

    1. Fair point. Probably should have previewed the Stanford vs. UC Santa Barbara match as well. If only we had more hours in a day.
