What to know: The I-69 Rivalry will be renewed with a new look as No. 13 Ball State plays host to its in-state conference rival IPFW. For the first time in the almost 40-year history of the rivalry, there will be a new coach on the IPFW sidelines. First-year coach Rock Perrotte, who replaced retired Hall of Fame coach Arnie Ball during the off-season, enters his first rivalry match trying to end the Cardinals’ four-match winning streak. Ball State has won its last three matches in a decisive fifth game, including rallying from a two-game deficit to defeat No. 9/10 Ohio State in a fifth-game overtime on Saturday. Outside attacker Mitch Weiler also has double-digit kills in Ball State’s last two matches and is among the conference leaders with 64 digs. IPFW libero Luis Bertran leads the MIVA with a 2.73 digs per game average. The senior needs 22 digs to tie the school record for career digs set by former All-American Jay Golsteyn at 816 digs. Along with Bertran, outside attacker Andy Sellan has a conference-best 4.60 kills per game average. In addition, Sellan had a match-high 22 kills in a loss to McKendree during the weekend — his third match with at least 20 kills this season.
