Penn State for the first time this season is ranked in the top 10 of the national media poll.
The Nittany Lions after extending their winning streak to four matches during the weekend jumped to No. 9 in the newest Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Media Poll released Tuesday.
Penn State is the first EIVA team to be ranked in the media poll this season. The Nittany Lions had received votes for the last three weeks but each time finished outside of the top 10.
UCLA earned every first-place vote in the new poll to remain at No. 1 for the third consecutive week. The Bruins are on a nation-best 10 match winning steak and are one of three undefeated teams remaining in the nation.
Along with UCLA, BYU, Long Beach, Stanford and Hawai’i round-out the top five of the national media poll.
The Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Media Poll is the only national rankings in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball solely determined by media members. The 10 teams receiving the most votes are ranked in National Media Poll, while other schools earning votes but finishing outside of the top 10 are considered teams receiving votes.
