All-conference high school player commits to McKendree

An in-state all-conference high school player will join the newest MIVA member McKendree in the upcoming seasons.

McKendree coach Nickie Sanlin announced during the weekend that high school senior Ethan Carroll has committed to play for the Bearcats starting in 2017.

Carroll, a 6-foot-8 outside attacker from Lake Barrington, Illinois, earned all-conference honors last season as his high school team reached the state sectional finals. He also competed in club volleyball with Sport Performance.

“Ethan will add to our offensive arsenal with the ability to compete on either pin,” Sanlin said in a statement. “He is a strong offensive threat with great ball control and blocking ability. He is another strong piece to the foundation of our program, and we are very excited for Ethan to join the McKendree family.”

McKendree in its inaugural season in the MIVA finished in last place but beat IPFW in February for its first victory in program history against a nationally ranked team. In addition, the Bearcats enter the program’s third season returning a majority of their starters from last year’s team that went 11-19.
