There is no shortage of Conference Carolinas schools on St. Francis’ upcoming non-conference schedule.
The Red Flashes as part of recently unveiling their 2016 schedule announced that they will play a program-record six matches against teams from the Conference Carolinas.
St. Francis will open the upcoming season with road matches against Mount Olive and Barton. It also will have four non-conference home matches versus Conference Carolinas opponents Lees-McRae, Pfeiffer, Limestone and King.
The Red Flashes in the last five years have traditionally scheduled multiple non-conference matches against Conference Carolinas teams with their previous program record being five matches in 2013. In addition, it is 10-3 all-time versus the Conference Carolinas and on a four-match winning streak against the conference dating back to 2014.
Five of the six Conference Carolinas schools that will play St. Francis in 2016 reached the conference tournament last season, including the defending conference champions Pfeiffer.
St. Francis finished last season in fifth place in the EIVA and missed qualifying the four-team EIVA Tournament. However, among the starters returning for the Red Flashes includes All-EIVA opposite Mike Marshman who was second in the EIVA with a .397 attack percentage.
