The nation’s leader in kills received the top individual honor from Conference Carolinas.
The Conference Carolinas announced Tuesday that Lees-McRae outside attacker Brady Markle was selected as the 2015 conference Player of the Year..
Markle finished the regular season with a nation-best 5.23 kills per game average and had double-digit kills in 19 matches. In addition, the senior had 38 kills in a five-game victory against North Greenville in March to set a conference record for most kills in a single-match.
Despite Markle’s offensive performance, Lees-McRae was one of two Conference Carolinas teams that did not qualify for the eight-team conference tournament.
Among the other players receiving the conference’s top honors included Barton libero Michael McMahon repeating as Defensive Player of the Year and King setter Nick Drooker being named the Freshman of the Year.
Coach Paul Lawson after leading Pfeiffer to the regular season championship was selected as the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year. The Falcons also had four players selected to the all-conference team.
A voting committee of the Conference Carolinas coaches selected the award-winners and all-conference teams.
