Top college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

The college men’s volleyball weekend isn’t done yet with two more matches featuring top-10 nationally ranked teams.

No. 8 UC Irvine and No. 10 Hawai’i will play each other for the Outrigger Invitational championship. In addition, No. 1 Pepperdine and George Mason will conclude their two-match non-conference series.

No. 1 Pepperdine (3-0, 0-0 MPSF) vs. George Mason (0-1, 0-0 EIVA)

What to know: No. 1 Pepperdine will attempt to remain undefeated and complete the two-match series sweep against George Mason. All-American outside attacker Josh Taylor in the series-opening victory Friday had match-high 12 kills, while all-conference opposite Parker Kalmbach added eight kills. Pepperdine also out-hit George Mason .295 to .101, including having more than a .390 attack percentage in the first and third game of the sweep. George Mason enters this non-conference match with the EIVA being a combined 1-9 against the MPSF this week. In addition, outside attacker Jack Wilson led George Mason with 12 kills in the series opener against Pepperdine.

What to know: The Outrigger Invitational championship will be on the line as No. 10 Hawai’i plays host to No. 8 UC Irvine to conclude the non-conference tournament. UC Irvine and Hawai’i enter undefeated at the Outrigger Invitation with each team having wins against No. 3 Penn State and No. 14 Ohio State. Hawai’i outside attacker Sinisa Zarkovic in the two wins had a combined 35 kills, including a match-high 20 kills in a four-game victory against Ohio State on Thursday. Preseason All-American opposite Zack La Cavera returning from an injury had a team-high 17 kills in UC Irvine’s five-game upset victory against Penn State on Thursday. The senior also had added nine kills to help UC Irvine sweep Ohio State on Friday.
