Postmatch reaction: UC Irvine coach Kniffin discusses loss to No. 9 Lewis

Outside attacker Greg Petty had a career-high 18 kills as No. 9 Lewis swept No. 8 UC Irvine 25-22, 25-22, 25-23 in its season-opener Monday in Irvine, California.

The Flyers in the non-conference victory out-hit the Anteaters .430 to .265, including having .538 a match-high attack percentage in the second game. In addition, Lewis committed nine attack errors the entire match — nine fewer errors than UC Irvine.

UC Irvine outside attacker Tamir Hershko finished with a team-high 17 kills, while outside attacker Kyle Russell added 13 kills against Lewis.
