What to know: Loyola’s run at trying to win its second consecutive MIVA Tournament championship begins with a quarterfinals match against last-place Quincy. The Ramblers enter the postseason on a nation-best 22-match winning streak and became the first team since 1979 to go undefeated in a MIVA regular season that consisted of at least 10 matches. In addition, outside attacker Thomas Jaeschke earlier in the week was named the 2014 MIVA Player of the Year. Jaescke is among the conference leaders with both a 3.98 kills per game average and a .397 attack percentage. A victory against Quincy would also help Loyola fully solidify the No. 1 overall seed for the upcoming NCAA Tournament, which will be played at Loyola. Quincy was the first MIVA team in five years to go winless during the conference regular season. However, Quincy libero Brian Peth is third in the conference with a 2.21 digs per game average.
