AVCA announces 2014 All-American Teams, All-American Honorable Mentions

Stanford fell just short of a conference regular season title, but picked up the most All-American honors of any team in the nation.

The AVCA announced Thursday the 20 players making its annual All-American teams along with its All-American honorable mention list.

Stanford had a nation-best three players selected to an All-American team, including outside attacker Brian Cook who earned First-Team All-American honors.

The Cardinal were one of 14 teams to have a player earn AVCA All-American honors. In addition, UC Irvine, USC, Lewis and Pepperdine each had two All-American selections.

The voting committee for the AVCA All-American Teams was comprised of 10 college head coaches and all four conferences were represented in the committee. This is also the first year that the AVCA extended the All-American honors to include an All-American Honorable Mention list.

  1. This is absurd that Jonah Seif was the only Gaucho named. Weston Nielsen, Chad Kingi, Mattt Hanley, and Evan Licht are all First-Team caliber players. Also not listed is Brennan Anderson, Pepperdine, Sam Holt, Northridge, and Parker Kalmbach, Pepperdine
