For the first time this season, a player besides All-American outside attacker Taylor Sander led BYU in kills but the Cougars were still able to get a critical road conference victory.
Outside attacker Josue Rivera had a season-high 15 kills as No. 3 BYU rallied from a one-game deficit to defeat No. 6 USC 16-25, 25-22, 15-125, 25-20, 15-10 on Saturday in Los Angeles.
This was the second consecutive conference road match for BYU that went to a decisive fifth game. BYU (7-3, 7-1 MPSF) opened its weekend road trip losing to No. 4 Pepperdine in five games to drop into second place in the MPSF.
