A USA Volleyball coach with the national sitting team will now become the head coach of the defending Conference Carolinas champions.
The Pfeiffer athletics department announced earlier this week that Greg Walker will be the new head coach of the Falcons men’s and women’s teams for the upcoming season.
Walker arrives to Pfeiffer after serving as a national tryout evaluator with the U.S. National Sitting Team. He also served as an assistant coach at Juniata last season and helped the Eagles advance to the ECAC Tournament championship match.
“I am extremely happy to have been asked to join the coaching staff here as head coach of both men’s and women’s volleyball programs here at Pfeiffer,” Walker said in a statement. “It has been the most welcoming experience and I want to thank the administration for sharing in my future vision for both men’s and women’s programs. I have been more than blessed to have had amazing mentors over the years that have prepared me to be very successful in this position and I look forward to continuing the excellence that has already been established and to continue building upon that foundation.”
Pfeiffer ended last season 21-6 — a 13-match win improvement from 2011 — and won the Conference Carolinas championship for the first time its program history. In addition, the Falcons received votes in the season’s final top 10 national media poll.
This will be the third head coach for Pfeiffer in the last three years. Walker replaces Steve Bintz, who spent one season at Pfeiffer before leaving the school earlier this summer.
Walker will make his Falcons coaching debut with the women’s volleyball team later this month as Pfeiffer opens its season. The Pfeiffer men’s volleyball season will not begin until January.
