15 college recruits get All-Tourney honors at USAV Junior Nationals

More than 10 men’s volleyball incoming freshmen recruits ended their club careers with top individual honors at the nation’s premier tournament.

Fifteen recent high school graduates who have committed college men’s volleyball teams for the upcoming season were selected Wednesday to an All-Tournament Team at the USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships.

The USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships featured two divisions for incoming freshman recruits — an 18-under Club Division and an 18-under Open Division. Each division had 15 players on its All-Tournament Team.

Loyola led all schools with four incoming recruits making an All-Tournament Team, including Trevor Novotny who was named the MVP of the Open Division.

USC and Stanford both had two players earn all-tournament honors and were only other schools to have multiple selections. UCLA, Ohio State, Princeton, St. Ambrose, Carthage and Concordia each had one incoming recruit make an All-Tournament Team.

Thirteen of the 15 players chosen to the Open Division All-Tournament Team have committed to play on a college men’s volleyball team next season. Carthage recruit Scott Adamczyk and Concrodia recruit Devin Ross were the only committed college players on the Club Division All-Tournament Team.

Both the 18-under divisions Wednesday concluded their four-day tournaments at the Junior Nationals. The OCVC 18-1 from California won the 18-under Club Division championship, while the West Allis Lightning B18 from Wisconsin won the 18-under Open Division title.
