Tickets are now on sale for the biggest non-conference tournament of the upcoming season.
The UC Santa Barbara athletics department announced earlier this week that tickets can be purchased for the UC Santa Barbara/ASICS Invitational on Jan. 6-7.
The UC Santa Barbara Invitational is a two-day tournament played on the opening weekend of the regular season. Seven of the eight teams participating in the upcoming tournament finished last season in the top 15 of the national rankings.
Among the first-round matches includes Ohio State versus UC Santa Barbara in a rematch of the 2011 NCAA championship match. In addition, BYU and UC Irvine — which both finished atop the MPSF Preseason Coaches Poll released earlier this week — will meet in the first-round.
Cal State Northridge versus UCLA and Long Beach State versus Loyola will be the other first-round matches in the non-conference tournament.
Similar to previous years, the tournament will be a single-elimination with a consolation bracket format and each team will play three matches during the two days.
The UC Santa Barbara Invitation last season had five matches with more than 300 people in attendance, including a tournament-high 490 people for the UCLA-UC Santa Barbara second-round match.
Adult tickets are $20 and senior and youth tickets are $15 for a two-day all-session pass. Single-day tickets will go on sale Dec. 19.
Tickets can be purchased online by at ticketreturn.com or by calling the UC Santa Barbara ticket office at 805-893-8272.
