A Wisconsin All-State high school middle attacker has committed to play at the college level for Loyola.
Loyola coach Shane Davis announced Monday that high school senior Nick Olson has signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period and will join the Ramblers for the 2013 season.
Olson, a 6-foot-10-inch middle attacker from New Berlin, Wis., during his high school career was named to the all-state team three times, including being a First-Team All-State selection as a senior. He also was selected as an alternate for the U.S Boy’s Youth National Team that played in the 2011 Youth World Championship this summer.
“Nick is a great combination of size, athleticism and experience. At 6-foot-10 he is an imposing presence at the net,” Davis said in a statement. “He has the athletic ability to make some great plays and is familiar with fast, high-level competitions. Nick will be a great addition to Loyola’s program and is expected to make an impact right away as a freshman.”
Loyola ended last season No. 12 in the national rankings and lost in the MIVA Tournament championship match. It was the second consecutive season that Loyola lost to Ohio State in the conference championship match.
