A five-game loss was not enough to knock Long Beach State out of the top spot in the national rankings.
Long Beach State following a loss to UCLA during the weekend remained No. 1 in the latest Off the Block National Media Poll that was released Tuesday.
The loss resulted in the Beach and Bruins splitting their home-and-home series. Long Beach State opened the series sweeping UCLA on Feb. 11 to maintain its No. 1 ranking last week.
UCLA with the victory moved up one spot to No. 2 in the new media poll.
The National Media Poll is the only rankings in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball solely determined by media members. The 10 teams receiving the most votes are ranked in the National Media Poll, while other schools earning votes but finishing outside of the top 10 are considered teams receiving votes.
A new national media poll is released every Tuesday during the regular season on Off the Block’s website.
