Olympics Players of the Day
United States — Outside attacker Taylor Sander finished with a match-high 14 kills and added two blocks in a four-game loss to Russia.
Argentina — Opposite Bruno Lima ended with a match-high 22 kills on a .385 attack percentage and added two aces in a five-game loss against Brazil
Brazil — Outside attacker Yoandy Leal had a team-high 17 kills on a .394 attack percentage as Brazil rallied from a two-game deficit to beat Argentina in five games.
Canada — Outside attacker John Gordon Perrin ended with a team-high 20 kills in a four-game loss to Japan.
France — Middle attacker Barthélémy Chinenyeze had a match-high four blocks and contributed seven kills in a sweep against Tunisia.
Iran — Outside attacker Meisam Salehi had 12 kills and zero errors on a .706 attack percentage as Iran swept Venezuela.
Italy — Middle attacker Gianluca Galassi had six kills on six attempts and added a block in a three-game loss to Poland.
Japan — Outside attacker Yuji Nishida had 21 kills on a 52.94 percent offensive efficiency and had a team-high two aces in a four-game victory against Canada.
Poland — Outside attacker Wilfredo Leon had both a match-high three aces and 14 kills in a sweep against Italy.
Russia — Outside attacker Dmitry Volkov had a team-high 12 kills along with two aces in a four-game victory against the United States.
Tunisia — Outside attacker Ismail Moalla had a team-high eight kills in a three-game loss to France.
Venezuela — Middle attacker Jose Verdi had seven kills and zero errors on a .875 attack percentage in a three-game loss against Iran.
