Unlike the national coaches poll, there is a unanimous No. 1 in the media poll released on Wednesday. BYU received all nine first place votes, while Hawai’i received all nine second place votes.

While neither team has started their 2021 campaign yet, two teams ranked in the Top 10 have. No. 4 Lewis is off to a fast 3-0 start, and the unanimous No. 1 in the coaches Division II poll. No. 7 Pepperdine started their season on Monday with a #CincoSets victory over conference foe, Concordia-Irvine.

No. 10 Grand Canyon edged out Concordia-Irvine for the final spot in this week’s poll by two points.

Breaking it down by conference, the Big West led all conferences with five teams in the poll, while the MPSF had four teams, and the MIVA had one team. Two EIVA teams – Penn State and NJIT – received votes.

The National Media Poll is the only rankings in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball solely determined by media members. The 10 teams receiving the most votes are ranked in the National Media Poll, while other schools earning votes but finishing outside of the top 10 are considered teams receiving votes.

A new national media poll is released every Tuesday during the regular season on Off the Block’s website.
