The latest program to transition to NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball is set for a home-and-home series against Alderson Broaddus in 2021.
Alderson Broaddus as part of recently unveiling its 2021 schedule announced it will play D’Youville both Feb. 19 on the road and then March 19 at home.
This will be the first all-time meeting between the Battlers and Saints.
D’Youville under first-year head coach Chris Krueger went 2-16 in 2020 but won its season finale before the season was abruptly canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. After the season, the men’s volleyball team and the entire D’Youville athletics department started a three-year transition from NCAA Division III to NCAA Division II membership.
Alderson Broaddus last season snapped a 21-match losing streak that dated back to 2019 and ended the year at 1-12. Among the starters returning for the Battlers includes outside attacker Ifeanyi Ukachukwu who had a team-high 23 blocks and added a 1.00 kills per game average in 2020.
Along with the matches versus D’Youville, Alderson Broaddus will have five other matches against NCAA Division I-II teams during the upcoming season.
The independent program will have both a home match and a neutral site match against Tusculum. It also will play road matches versus Queens, Daemen and Lincoln Memorial.
